Eddie Redmayne Transforms into ‘The Danish Girl’
After taking the role as ALS-afflicted genius Professor Stephen Hawking in the movie Theory of Everything, the Oscar-winning actor Eddie Redmayne takes on a whole new character.
Eddie Redmayne stars as Einar Wegener, an artist who later became known as Lili Elbe – the first known transgender, for his new film The Danish Girl.
It is a reunion between Eddie Redmayne and his Les Misérables director Tom Hooper. The film is based on David Ebershoff’s book which was published in 2000.
It revolves around Einar Wegener, a Danish artist who underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1930 with the support of her wife, Gerda Gottlieb. Einar soon became Lili and later on caused a sensation. But in 1931, she underwent her fifth and final operation, to transplant a uterus into her body to become a mother but she died following transplant rejection.
The plot is really interesting and timely, it’s good to have transgender movies around in order to understand their journey through their vantage point, and by the looks of Eddie, she is a total babe in her sleek and auburn hair and we all know how deep and immersed of an actor he is when it comes to the portrayal of his character.
The Danish Girl opens on November 27 and we’re looking forward to it!
