It’s Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s second State of the Nation Address. There are full of hopeful statements and promises (not to mentions lots of swearing) but here are some of the quotable quotes from his SONA…

#7 “There is no problem in the world which can stop the march of a people with unflinching and tenacious determination.”

Isn’t it glorious to be around people who are pouring their heart, soul, sweat and tears for the greater good of their Motherland?

#6 “When nature fights back, it does so with a vengeance.”

It’s true that our country is rich, maybe not financially, but we’re blessed with lots of impeccable sceneries, bodies of land and water, and unique species. We have to protect and take care of them to be able to prosper.

#5 “Each life that is snuffed out translates into future generations lost.”

Mortality rate is at all time high due to the relentless war on drugs. Small-time dealers shot dead on the streets have become the staple of local news since last year.  We can never condone violence, and being God-fearing humans, we should value our lives and must try our best to make it better not only for ourselves but also for our neighbors/community.

But let’s hope that they also catch the bigwigs of the trade because in order to get rid of the problem, you have to take out the root cause of it.

#4 “The search for change will begin and end only when we look into ourselves and find it within.”

A third country that is swarmed with corrupt leaders and hungry families living in the slums. But when you take a closer look in every household, no matter how dreadful the problem is, we overcome it together and with smiles on our faces. That’s the Pinoy way of doing things.

#3 “If we cannot provide for the poor and the needy who are many, then we will not be able to keep from harm the rich who are few.”

With terrorist attacks all over the capital cities of the world, it wasn’t a surprise that it has inspired uprising again within our country. It feels surreal for the ones living outside Mindanao, that there is a war ongoing. We have to be compassionate and be the source of hope of these people.

#2 “The success of every Filipino’s pursuit to life, liberty, and happiness directly mirrors the fulfillment of our aspirations as a Filipino”

I think we know the hashtag #PinoyPride all too well. We have to destroy crab mentality and support and help one another to achieve greater heights.

#1 “It is easier to build from scratch than to dismantle the rotten and rebuild upon its rubble.”

Sometimes, you just gotta let go and start with a clean slate to be able to see clearly and reach your goal.
